Zigong Dinosaur Museum
Ten of the world's best dinosaur museums, one of which is in Sichuan Province, is now the name card of Zigong city tourism. Zigong Dinosaur Museum, together with the National Dinosaur Park in the United States and the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Alberta, Canada, is known as the world's three largest dinosaur museums.
Zigong Dinosaur Museum is also our only dinosaur fossil burial site museum, compared with Guangdong Heyuan Dinosaur Museum, its most characteristic is the museum built on the original excavation site.
The museum has been named "the best Dinosaur Museum in the world" by National Geographic magazine because of the density and large number of dinosaur fossils maintained in the museum, which is one of the world's largest collection and display of Jurassic dinosaur fossils.
The museum is divided into three parts: movie simulation scene experience, outdoor green belt simulation dinosaur experience and the main exhibition dinosaur fossil excavation site architecture.
The dinosaur excavation site is the lower level of the museum, and there are props in the site that resemble the excavation site. This is a dinosaur egg. It's rectangular, but the inside has been completely crystallized.
In October 1977, the first complete dinosaur fossil weighing 40 tons was discovered in Zigong, Sichuan Province.
Later, to preserve the fossils, archaeologists built a dinosaur museum on the site where the fossils were excavated.
The Zigong Dinosaur Museum now contains almost all known dinosaur species from the Jurassic period 201 to 145 million years ago.
They included Asia's second longest dinosaur, which was more than 20 meters long, the herbivorous sauropod, the carnivorous king, the diminutive ornithopod, and the precious primitive stegosaurus.
In addition to dinosaur fossils, there are some ancient ocean fish and sauropod fossils.
The dinosaur Museum has several floors, and some of the exhibits are glazed with bones that date back 160 million years.
Some of the large herbivorous dinosaurs were arranged into the hall, and the size of their experience could be inferred from their tall skeletal frames.
Zigong Dinosaur Museum has a large number of text introductions beside each exhibit to help visitors learn about dinosaurs.
It is of great help to study the classification, life and evolution of reptiles like dinosaurs in Sichuan.
