Zigong Lantern Festival Exhibition
In the Spring of the Year of the Rabbit, the 29th Zigong International Dinosaur Lantern Festival is lit up to welcome visitors. During the Spring Festival, more than 320,000 tourists visited the park, up 41.39 percent year on year, becoming one of the highlights of Sichuan's tourism recovery.
This year's Lantern Fair is the first "story-oriented + gamification" walking dip lantern fair in China. Five theme areas are created, where traditional culture and modern technology complement each other. Visitors can feel the unique charm of traditional Chinese culture in the Lantern Festival. The theme area of Brilliant New Era presents the latest development achievements of China with colorful lights, looks forward to the future development direction, and integrates interaction and experience to create a beautiful 210 meters long Chinese roll. The theme area is composed of the Gate of Thousands of Lanterns, thousands of Lanterns station, Praying Square, thousands of Lanterns Museum and other scenic spots, creating a festive and lively city of New Year flavor. As the permanent host of Zigong International Dinosaur Lantern Fair, China Colorful Lantern World Scenic Spot, operated and managed by OCT, instill vitality into the traditional colorful lantern culture with the emerging cultural and tourism operation ideas, and inherits the intangible cultural heritage culture of Zigong colored lantern with lanterns as the medium. The scenic spot has become one of the first national-level night culture and tourism consumption gathering areas and national tourism science and technology demonstration parks.
Zigong City, the "Southern Lantern City", held the first lantern fair since the founding of New China in 1964. By 2023, Zigong has successfully held 36 local lantern fairs, of which 7 were named "Zigong Spring Lantern Festival" and 29 were named "Zigong International Dinosaur Lantern Festival". Zigong Lantern Fair has been exhibited in more than 500 large and medium-sized cities in China and many countries and regions, attracting more than 400 million visitors. Zigong Lantern Festival has been transformed from a folk activity to a government festival activity. Zigong Lantern Fair has developed the traditional folk custom of New Year's Lantern Festival into a festival cultural activity with strong regional characteristics, which has been identified as one of the series activities of "Perceiving China" by the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee.
